Who We Are
CBSL is a privately owned company that delivers private
sector services to companies in Trinidad and Tobago with the aim of
improving their international competitiveness.
History
Caribbean Business Services Limited (CBSL) was
established in 1995 to arrange managerial and technical assistance
for small and medium sized businesses. CBSL’s primary focus
involves the improvement of production efficiency and product
quality.
CBSL was initially established through a
collaboration between the private sector in Trinidad and Tobago
and the Centre for Development of Industry (CDI) the forerunner of
the CDE. Initially the private sector companies provided the
start-up share capital and the CDI met the operating costs of the
Company for the first two years of its existence. Subsequently
CBSL’s activities were supported by grants provided by the
European Commission. Since its inception, CBSL has assisted over
two hundred companies and has had a positive impact in the areas
of successful ISO 9000 implementation, introduction of new
technology, improving quality, production efficiency and
implementation of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Hazard
Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) systems.
Assistance is provided only when CBSL is
confident that the recipient has the potential, ability and
resources to maintain a successful profitable operation, with a
positive contribution to the economy.
Our Focus
We focus on all SME’s in Trinidad and Tobago
engaged in productive activities. However, most of the SME’s in
Trinidad and Tobago are family owned/founded enterprises which
comprise a large section of our client base. We recognize the
management challenges faced by these enterprises and offer the
opportunity to access additional resources to assist with these
challenges through the use of experienced consultants.
